One in 10 Republicans less likely to vote for Trump after guilty verdict, Reuters/Ipsos poll finds

Ten percent of Republican registered voters say they are less likely to vote for Donald Trump following his felony conviction for falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to a porn star, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed on Friday.

The two-day poll, conducted in the hours after the Republican presidential candidate's conviction by a Manhattan jury on Thursday, also found that 56% of Republican registered voters said the case would have no effect on their vote and 35% said they were more likely to support Trump, who has claimed the charges against him are politically motivated and has vowed to appeal.

The potential loss of a tenth of his party's voters is more significant for Trump than the stronger backing of more than a third of Republicans, since many of the latter would be likely to vote for him regardless of the conviction. The verdict could shake up the race between Trump, who was U.S. president from 2017-2021, and Democratic President Joe Biden ahead of the Nov. 5 election. U.S. presidential elections are typically decided by thin margins in a handful of competitive swing states, meaning that even small numbers of voters defecting from their candidates can have a big impact.

Biden and Trump remain locked in a tight race, with 41% of voters saying they would vote for Biden if the election were held today and 39% saying they would pick Trump, according to the poll, which surveyed 2,556 U.S. adults nationwide.

Trump family insider says Ivanka now gets 'nothing' out of her relationship with her dad

Former first daughter Ivanka Trump is no longer getting any value out of her relationship with her father, former President Donald Trump, said his niece Mary Trump on CNN Friday. This comes after the former president was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records, in a New York felony case that centered on his efforts to silence any news of an extramarital affair he allegedly had with adult film star Stormy Daniels while his wife and former First Lady Melania was pregnant with his child — a trial in which neither Melania nor Ivanka showed up to a single day of the proceedings.

"As you know, Trump's daughter, Ivanka, your cousin, posted a picture or after the verdict came down saying — I'm quoting her now — 'I love you, Dad,'" said anchor Wolf Blitzer. "A source tells CNN that Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner, and Melania Trump, and Barron Trump for that matter, were at over at Trump Tower today, despite not attending the actual trial. "What do you make of this?"

"I think that, like all of Donald's relationships, even his relationship with his children, is transactional, and that goes both ways," said Mary Trump bluntly. But even more than that, she said, "I think Ivanka made very clear that she doesn't get enough out of this relationship anymore. She's barely been heard from for months, she could not be bothered to show up at the trial, which is really when you would want to be supporting somebody, right? Not after it's over."

Ultimately, she added, "I think it's way too little too late, but that clearly is where they've landed in their relationship at this point." Ivanka, whom Trump once famously said he would probably be dating if they weren't blood relatives, played a key advisory role in the White House during Trump's administration, but has since shied away from involvement in politics.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Forgets Trump's Friendship With Jeffrey Epstein

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene attempted to thwart those danged libs who keep trying to hold Donald Trump to account on Thursday. But it didn’t go so well because of a little detail called “evidence.”

It all started when the controversial Georgia congresswoman sent a social media post while a New York City jury deliberated in the former president’s hush money trial.

Greene wasn’t happy that the “same demented democrats that are abusing our justice systems to try to make Pres Trump a ‘felon’” are refusing the prosecute the people who are allegedly on a client list of notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein that so far has never been produced. (Court documents made public earlier this year did not link Trump to any wrongdoing.)

It’s possible Greene thought she had a solid case. Instead, many people reminded Greene that her fearless leader was actually pretty good friends with Epstein for a time.

Jim Jordan summons Alvin Bragg to congressional hearing over Trump's criminal conviction

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) wants answers from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg about the felony conviction of former President Donald Trump.

The Ohio Republican plans to demand Bragg and senior counsel Matthew Colangelo appear before the House select subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government on June 13 for a hearing, according to an X announcement made Friday. The proposed subject, according to the announcement, would be "the unprecedented political prosecution of President Trump."

Tensions have been mounting between Bragg and Jordan for months after the Manhattan prosecutor sued the Ohio lawmaker in April for what he described as an "unprecedentedly brazen and unconstitutional attack" on his office.

The district attorney dropped the suit a few weeks later and reached an agreement to allow former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, who ran the Trump probe, to give a deposition to the House Judiciary Committee.

Trump warns Republicans not to 'siphon money' from him by fundraising off convictions

Donald Trump made history on Thursday when he was convicted of more than 30 felonies in New York. He then immediately went on a fundraising spree in which he cast himself as a victim of a rigged system. But putting his own fundraisers out after the guilty verdict wasn't enough, according to a new report. He's now warning fellow Republicans to keep away, Politico reported.

"Donald Trump’s campaign is sending a blunt message to down ballot Republicans who are looking to fundraise for themselves off of the ex-president’s conviction: Back off," the outlet reported. "Trump’s political operation views the guilty verdict in the New York hush money trial as a small-dollar goldmine — so much so that they are warning other Republicans not to raise money off it and siphon off money that could otherwise go to the Trump campaign."

The article goes on to quote Trump co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita, who reportedly said that, "Any Republican elected official, candidate or party committee siphoning money from President Trump’s donors are no better than Judge Merchan’s daughter... We’re keeping a list, we’ll be checking it twice and we aren’t in the spirit of Christmas.”

Politico states that "Trump’s campaign has sent out a stream of fundraising appeals to prospective donors – one text message sent Thursday evening asked supporters to 'Stand with' Trump 'following this injustice' — with an eye toward filling its coffers."

Prosecutor Alvin Bragg leaves door open for seeking a prison sentence for Trump

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg gave a rare public speech on former President Donald Trump's criminal hush money case, shortly after the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records — but declined to answer reporters' questions about whether he will pursue prison time at sentencing.

"The judge has scheduled a sentencing for July 11th," said Bragg. "We will speak in court in that time. He also set a motion schedule; we will speak in our court filings as we've done throughout this proceeding." Bragg spent much of his speech and answers thanking the jury for its service, as well as the prosecutors on his team for effectively seeing the case through to its conclusion.

"This type of white-collar prosecution is core to what we do at the Manhattan District Attorney's office," said Bragg, who was also responsible for the criminal fraud case against the Trump Organization. "In the 1930s, District Attorney Thomas Dewey ushered in the era of the modern independent professional prosecutor. For now nearly 90 years, dedicated professionals in his office had built upon that fine tradition; a major part of our practice during that nearly 90 years has been public integrity work, including cases involving jurists, local and state elected, public servants, and others."

Bragg's team argued in court that the $130,000 scheme to conceal hush payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels amounted to an election interference plot, as it kept voters in the 2016 election from learning about Trump's alleged extramarital affair. Trump maintains his innocence in the case and is all but certain to appeal after sentencing takes place.

Trump Says it is Totally Unfair That He is Not Allowed to be a Juror

Calling the situation a “rigged disgrace,” Donald J. Trump said on Thursday it is “totally unfair” that he is not on the jury of his trial.

“You have these twelve losers in a room, trying to figure out what the hell was going on,” he told reporters. “Meanwhile, I was there the whole time and know everything, but I’m not allowed to be a juror? This is like some kind of banana republic.”

“I saw the movie ‘Twelve Angry Men,’” Trump continued. “I should be one of those angry men. I would be the angriest man, by far.”

Blasting Judge Juan Merchan, Trump said, “Look at him. Look at where he’s from. I’m not going to name the place, but he’s from a very bad place. That’s why he won’t let me be a juror. I'd be a juror if Aileen Cannon was the judge.”

Former Apprentice Producer Confirms Racist Trump Tapes

A former producer on The Apprentice has confirmed that there were tapes of Trump making racist and sexist comments on the NBC show. Bill Pruitt a former producer on The Apprentice wrote in Slate:

Without a doubt, the hardest decisions we faced in postproduction were how to edit together sequences involving Trump. We needed him to sound sharp, dignified, and clear on what he was looking for and not as if he was yelling at people. You see him today: When he reads from a teleprompter, he comes off as loud and stoic. Go to one of his rallies and he’s the off-the-cuff rambler rousing his followers into a frenzy. While filming, he struggled to convey even the most basic items. But as he became more comfortable with filming, Trump made raucous comments he found funny or amusing—some of them misogynistic as well as racist. We cut those comments. Go to one of his rallies today and you can hear many of them. So, we scammed. We swindled. Nobody heard the racist and misogynistic comments or saw the alleged cheating, the bluffing, or his hair taking off in the wind. Those tapes, I’ve come to believe, will never be found.

As we now know, Trump’s image has been a lie. Donald Trump was a scam created by reality TV. He’s not rich, smart, or even good on television. There is a reason why Trump is increasingly glued to his teleprompter. His interviews and off-the-cuff rallies have vanished. When Trump releases a video on social media, it is heavily taped and edited. Trump has gotten older, and the tendencies that the former producer of The Apprentice described have only grown more dominant in his presentation.

Donald Trump can’t form coherant thoughts. The ex-president still thinks of himself as a great salesman and communicator, but he has never been either. Trump has always been a con. Millions of people still believe the con, and since the con man is for sale, special interests and hostile foreign governments line up to give him money in the hope of buying control over US policy.

Jill Biden Sums Up Donald Trump With 1 Withering Word

Jill Biden spelled out the stark choice facing voters in the 2024 election. On Wednesday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Joy Behar asked the first lady what Democrats have to do to get across that her husband, President Joe Biden, is “competent, alert and doing the job and it’s not about his age.”

“The other one,” Behar said, referring to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, “is doddery, doesn’t remember anything and can’t put a sentence together, and has brain farts in the middle of a paragraph, and they go after Joe.”

Jill Biden argued that this election isn’t about age, despite the attempts of some conservative figures ― including Trump himself ― to portray Biden as in cognitive decline. Biden will be 81 and Trump will be 78 when the November election takes place, she pointed out, saying: “They’re basically the same age.”

“This election is about character,” she added. “You have two choices,” she continued. “You have my husband, Joe, who you all know, who has integrity. He’s strong, he’s steady, he’s a leader, he’s smart, he’s energetic.” Then, in one word, the first lady summed up Trump. “Or you have chaos,” she said, drawing applause from the audience. “Yes, you have chaos,” she repeated.

'Giddily bouncing off the walls': Legal experts predict Trump conviction

With the jury dismissed for the day after more than four hours of deliberations and a series of notes to Judge Juan Merchan, legal experts are predicting Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg will win his case against Donald Trump, and see jurors convict the ex-president on 34 criminal counts. The ex-president is on trial for allegedly falsifying business records as a means to cover-up a conspiracy scheme to promote his election to the Presidency by “unlawful means.”

"If I were in the DA’s office I’d be giddily bouncing off the walls right now," attorney George Conway wrote on social media late Wednesday afternoon. Minutes later attorney Tristan Snell, who helped secure the New York Attorney General's $25 million settlement in the Trump University civil case, also predicted a likely Trump conviction:

"BREAKING: Trump jury asks for testimony transcripts, including 3 sections from David Pecker and 1 section from Michael Cohen. VERY bad sign for Trump that David Pecker's testimony landed with the jury and is something they want to focus on. Jury is likely leaning toward GUILTY."

National security attorney Brad Moss, appearing on CNN Wednesday afternoon said, "I don't expect a hung jury but if we get into Friday, or even next week Monday, it certainly would appear that would be more likely what's going on. But if we have a decision tomorrow, my expectation is it will be a guilty verdict."
